When you say Yugoslavia, I hear you say Sarma. From the far southeast all the way to the north of the former country, Sarma is autumn, winter and even early spring, it is Christmas Day or New Year's Eve or the hangover cure for the day after, as well as any-day-of-the-week, any-time-of-the-day meal, which profits from cookeing in advance both convinience and flavor wise.


Sarma grounds and (re)connects: even thousands miles away, even only the mesmerizing smell of it in the stairway thaws a frostbitten and misplaced Slavic soul, bringing it home.
